No finger joints are allowed, which tend to fail under pressure and over time. 。 Product Description This 63x81 is a unique size in the 9:7 Aspect Ratio. Sierra is our # heavy weight cotton duck canvas finished at 14.6 oz., sized and triple primed with archival quality acrylic gesso, producing an excellent barrier and ground for oil, acrylic, and alkyd paints. Sierra's heavier weight is stronger and has slightly less texture, yet excellent for heavy paint applications and impasto. There is a 1/2" gap between the canvas and frame, eliminating the unwanted lines that occur when the gap is less. We never use finger joints in our wood frames, which often fail under tension and over time - the glue joints give-up, and are unsuitable for paintings intended to last for centuries. Our 3.25" wide heavy-duty keyable cross braces allow the canvas frame to be tensioned in the middle, where the tension is needed the most...a unique design for which we earned a patent! The corners have increased rigidity due to the DIAGONAL STEEL BRACE SUPPORTS. This frame uses even larger 2.25" wide Stretcher Bars for superior strength. Cross braces are glued and fastened at the “cross” for maximum support and rigidity. Both corner keys and brace keys are pre-installed. Stretched using our proprietary MuseumWrap method, producing a drum-tight-stretch up to 50% tighter than other methods, and with balanced tension across the surface. When frame sizes are 16” or larger, a brace is applied to the frame; for example, a 16x has a single brace, and a x is cross braced in both directions. The braces prevent the stretcher bar frame from bowing-in so the canvas stays tighter….which is a welcome feature when you paint on the canvas, making the surface more responsive to the artist’s touch. And the canvas stays tight after it’s painted.
